There are two basic
types of constraints: additive and relative.
An additive restriction would be to restrict the sum of all equities to
be less than a constant percentage such as:
Large Cap + Small Cap + International Equity
≤
50%
A relative restriction restricts the proportions
between assets such as:
Large Cap = 2 x Small Cap
The Group Constraints Editor has 30 available
constraints organized by column.
Each column has a row listing of the current assets set up in the Asset
Editor. A constraint is specified by
entering a non-zero coefficient for a specific asset. After the asset listing are the
following four fields:
Operator
This is ≤, = or ≥.
Constant
This varies between 0% and 100%.
Periods
This sets which periods
to apply a group constraint.
Description
This is a notation field for a group constraint.
